With a front porch overlooking this 190 acre pristine boutique lake, and just 200-ft from the water’s edge, you can enjoy sipping your coffee or cocktails while overlooking a huge grassy yard with views out to the lake. If you enjoy quiet lake surroundings with loons, herons and bald eagles, and enjoy water activities, then this is the place for you. Swimmers, sailboats, kayaks, canoes and motor boats are all welcome, and you have the use of the private community dock. Enjoy excellent fishing in a relaxing setting. A two minute walk brings you to a local farm where you can see horses and chickens and purchase a dozen fresh eggs for breakfast the next morning. Wild blueberries are abundant all around the lake. For star gazers, view the heavens at night with amazing depth and clarity.
Just down the road is the Orchard School Community Center Camp and Breadworks. Booking ahead of time, children can enjoy a week of camp in a countryside setting. Enjoying the best of what New Hampshire has to offer and a philosophy of respect and appreciation of nature. Camp weeks specialize in a variety of themes including comic strip writing camp, photography, forest camp, soccer camp, and African dance. Fresh breads are baked on-site three times per week and are sold along with organic milk, cheeses and other baked goods in a small local shop. Tuesdays during the summer, there is a community pizza night where you can gather with friends and make a personal pizza in an outdoor oven in support of local charities. Music lovers will enjoy local talent only two miles away at Mole Hill Music Hall.
Only 15 minutes from Walpole, NH you can play a round of golf at Hooper Golf Club and enjoy spectacular views into Vermont and NY and afterward enjoy an exquisite lunch or dinner at LA Burdick’s. A local winery provides samples of some of their best vintages in a romantic setting. Take pleasure in fresh apples and peaches at Alyson’s Orchards or select the freshest fruits and vegetables from local growers at Homestead Farms.
Enjoy hiking? We are a short drive to Mount Monadnock and Pisgah State Parks. Enjoy some of New Hampshire’s best hiking and at the peak of Mount Monadnock revel in a 6 state view. Chesterfield Gorge is also nearby and provides a shady path along a cascading stream.
Drive twenty minutes south to Keene, a small yet thriving New England town, to enjoy tax-free shopping, as well as, a bustling main street with a variety of fine restaurants, boutiques and coffee shops. Prepare to get pampered at Devine Back and Body Care with a deep tissue massage or a manicure/pedicure. Or, take in a show at the Colonial Theater on Main Street. Step back in time and plan a visit to the Colony Museum and learn about local history.
